The UK tree coverage is about 13%, abysmal anyway but also compared to the rest of Europe which has an average of 37% tree coverage. The Woodland Trust has written a report on it which you can find Here

I would urge anyone reading- before you cut down any trees, think about whether you can incorporate it into your design- do you really need that parking space to be that big? Can you plant  a tree - locally, or in your garden or even a small tree on a balcony? We need to do all we can now.
