Black lives matter
Environmental poverty is where there is a lack of healthy
environments for people to thrive and develop in due to climate change. This is
often in areas where people have lower incomes, affecting people from lower
socio economic backgrounds more than those of higher income backgrounds. Although
it affects everyone and is a global issue, Climate change is more likely to affect
those from BAME backgrounds, it’s more likely to affect people of colour than
their white counterparts. Hence, climate change is a political matter. Climate change
is a race matter. Climate change is a class matter.
The work I do is done because of my love for the environment.
It’s done because of my horror and depression over the destruction of natural
places. It’s done because I want to show nature in the most engaging way I can
through a craft thousands of years old. We need these places. All of us. No
matter our colour or race, age or gender.
It’s something I’ve been researching for my project @climateandcities.
It’s something I will continue to fight for and speak out for.
